for astrid 'badai pasti berlalu' 2007

my dear friend ratna, wanted to do this side job together in between our very busy daily job [as a visual merchandiser at some departement store in jakarta].

it was around february 2007 i guess, when the movie 'badai pasti berlalu' launched, along with the soundtrack. they also held a concert for it. one of the singer is astrid, one of indonesia's young rising star. the manager asked us to do her wardrobe for the concert. so the story goes.

me and ratna was full with marie antoinette at that time [by sofia copolla]. can't you just tell it from the sketches? hehe. that's all that we can get. we want it to look dramatic. yes we're such a drama queen :P

why no colors? we submit the fabric first, because it's just risky.

the chosen one is the one on the top. then it starts: the fabric hunting, the tailor-man chasing [more like killing. deadline that is], fitting, running here and there for buttons and threads, traffic jam [it's jakarta!] and sleepless night.

the worst thing is i don't have the pic. i have to chase the manager down for it :D !! i missed the concert, and ratna was going to move to london.

but hey, it's almost 2 years ago. it felt like yesterday.

fairy, take me with you

i tought i was dead at that time.

i was in the worst situation.

but then i try hard to remember the best things of life: hope.

when i was distructed by the thing called love. on any aspect and term.

i drew it in tears, i wanted to escape. i wanted fairy to take me. and never going back home.

material: vinyl, self-made figurines [pantones, printed paper], glue.

another dossier [project] i made in my 3rd year of ESMOD [2005]. music, chloe sevigny and volumed dress was my inspiration. that's where the punk studded pants, 3 layers volumed skirt and edgy cutting came from. i listen to a lot of depeche mode at that time. stuck in the beat. haha.

3 years of learning, and 3 years after. i'm still constant on using those frikkin bright colors. oh, well.

first mood picture ever

there it is.

my very first mood picture. it was my first year of ESMOD jakarta, fashion design class in 2002.

i remember my teacher, john moukarzel, taught us just to free our mind then collect random pictures to be framed in together in an A3-sized paper. then we should tell him what's the story inside it. he said that mood picture works as the main inspiration for the designer, the originality of the idea.

i have no story at that time. i know i love colors, bright colors to be exact. i found the perfect title in my magazine, and it started the story. i capture madness inside it. what do you expect from a 1st year student? :)

anyway, this picture is very nostalgic. everytime i see it [hanging on my bedroom wall btw], remind me of my classroom, where the picture was hung before, and i always look at it when i'm drawing my assignments.

i miss those time.
